If you and your not-yet-official partner are ready to move past the "meeting for coffee" stage and about to schedule an official first date, having dinner together is the next logical step. Deciding where to go can often be angst-inducing – you want to go somewhere nice but not over-the-top, and you want to make sure there are things you can both eat. If you can't decide what's just right for a first dinner date, here are some reasons to consider an Italian restaurant.

Table Service

Asking your date to dinner at a restaurant with table service shows that you are interested in spending some time talking over dinner and getting to know each other. Opting for a full-service restaurant rather than carry-out help shows that you respect the person's space and aren't trying to rush them into coming to your house. Italian restaurants can be romantic, intimate, family-oriented or pub-style, so you'll have lots of choices for the setting and atmosphere. Of course, if your date goes well and you mutually decide to move forward, you'll still have that option after dinner.

Likewise, if you're eager to show off your superior pasta-twirling skills, you can order spaghetti and make a great impression. Meat eaters, vegetarians, low-carbers and dieters can all find something they'll like on the typical Italian restaurant menu.
